Getting Around Kathmandu

Kathmandu's Tribhuvan airport is 6km east of the city and many hotels will arrange free pick-ups, while taxis charge a fixed fare of around 600 Nepali rupees ($8).

Once you’ve arrived in the city, the most common and cheap way to get around the Old Town and Tamel is on cycle rickshaws, where you need to haggle hard and make sure you agree a price before setting out on your journey. Alternatively taxis, while more expensive, can still be reasonable and there are also several motorcycle rental companies in Tamel.
