Getting Around Hanoi

Hanoi's Noi Bai airport is 45km north of the city. A taxi to the city centre costs around $10 and takes around 40 minutes, or for just 5,000 Vietnamese Dong (30c) you can take the No 7 bus from outside the terminal. Departing every 20 minutes between 5am and 10pm, it terminates an hour later at the central Kim Ma bus station.

While taxis are a good idea if you are taking a longer journey across the city, for short hops it’s cheaper to take a pedicab rickshaw. Or if you’re feeling adventurous hop on the back of a motorbike for a “Xe Om”, which literally means “motorbike hug”.
